HANGE

Privacy

Last updated September 2026

Hange works without an account. This page says exactly what is stored, why, for how long, and how to have it removed.

Who is responsible

Hange is operated by Arthur Davtian, an individual based in Belgium, who is the data controller for everything described here. Contact: privacy@hange.app [postal address to be added].

What is stored, and why

Your questionnaire answers

When you complete the questionnaire we store your answers exactly as given — budget, use cases, priorities, required features — together with the recommendation they produced and a record of which version of our catalog generated it.

This is stored because your results live at a private link you can return to or share, and because a recommendation cannot be explained later without the answers that produced it and the catalog it was drawn from.

Your answers are not personal data in themselves — they describe a laptop you want, not you — and they are stored without any identifier that links them to you unless you give us your email address.

Your results link

Each recommendation gets a long random token, which is the address of your results page. Anyone with the link can view that result. It is not listed or searchable, and it is not guessable, but treat it as you would any private link: sharing it shares the answers you gave.

Your email address, only if you ask for it

If you choose to have your results emailed, we store your email address against that recommendation and use it to send you that email. We do not send marketing, and we do not share it. If you do not ask for results by email, we never collect an address.

Which links get clicked

When you click through to a retailer we record which laptop and which position on the page it was, so we can tell which recommendations people find useful. This record is not linked to your identity.

Your IP address, for abuse prevention

To stop automated abuse from exhausting the service, we count how many requests come from each visitor over short time windows. Visitors are identified by IP address, which is personal data, so it is named here rather than buried under “technical data”.

The IP address is used only as a counter key and is never attached to your answers, your results, or your email address. Counters are short-lived by nature — they cover a window of minutes and are discarded once it closes.

What we do not do

Cookies and analytics

Hange sets no cookies and runs no analytics. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising tag, and no third-party script watching what you do here. That is why you have not been asked to accept anything.

If this ever changes, this page changes first, and anything non-essential will ask for your consent before it runs.

Who else processes your data

Running the site means other companies handle data on our behalf. They act only on our instructions:

Your data is stored in the European Union. Our database runs in Paris (eu-west-3) and the site is served from EU regions.

If a provider ever needs to process data outside the European Economic Area, this page will say so and name the safeguard that permits it.

Legal basis

How long it is kept

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, and ask for it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent for results emails at any time.

Email privacy@hange.app. Because we store no account, the practical way to identify your data is the results link — include it and we can act on that specific record. We will respond within one month.

If you think we have handled your data wrongly you can complain to your national data protection authority. In Belgium that is the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the previous version remains available on request.
